R.A. Salvatore is a popular fantasy and science fiction writer who has written two Star Wars novels and dozens of fantasy novels. His books have sold over 10 million copies.
Salvatore was approached by Star Wars publisher Del Rey in the late 1990s to write Vector Prime, the premier novel in the Star Wars: New Jedi Order series. The novel notoriously features the death of Chewbacca, an event that prompted some readers to refer to Salvatore as "that guy who killed Chewbacca." Despite the controversery, Vecter Prime became a New York Times Bestseller. Following the success of Vector Prime, Dey Rey selected Salvatore to pen the novelization of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
