Star Wars Gangsta Rap

Created By:   Jason Brannon and Chris Crawford
Release:
Runtime:   3:04 minutes

SWBookZone Review:
Clever writing, a catchy rap beat, and fun visuals collide in this fan film classic.

Star Wars Gangsta Rap parodies A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, emphasizing the Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader dynamic in the films. It's hard not to crack up when you hear nerdy white boy Luke Skywalker spouting such lines as "Yoda, why ya being a playa hata?" This fan film succeeds in making something as geeky as Star Wars...well...gansta (or at least gangsta-sounding enough to be funny). The use of swaying stormtroopers in the background provides great visual humor too. Overall a fun film that can be appreciated both by die hard and casual fans alike.

Overall Grade: A+

Awards/Distinctions:
2002 Audience Choice Recipient, Star Wars Fan Film Awards
