SWBookZone Review:
A charmingly subtle film that blends the Death Star into ordinary San Francisco scenery.
Death Star Over San Francisco is a film that is as matter-of-fact as its title. The movie takes snatches of mundane, grainy, shaky camera footage of San Francisco and edits in the Death Star, Super Star Destroyers, the U.S.S. Enterprise and other vehicles and vessels. The simplicity of the concept is what makes the movie special. All of the sci fi vessels are seamlessly incorporated into a San Francisco backdrop as if their presence was the most natural thing in the world. The ships blend so convincingly into the amateur-style footage that the film feels like raw, authentic footage. The best visual effects are the ones that don't look like visual effects, and the effects in Death Star Over San Francisco look almost disturbingly real.
