Matthew Stover

Matthew Stover is the author of four Star Wars novels and several other fantasy and science fiction novels.

Stover's journey to Star Wars started in 1996, when Del Rey bought Stover's fantasy/science fiction novel Heroes Die along with its sequel Blade of Tyshalle. An editor of one of the books was also involved with development of the Star Wars:The New Jedi Order. She approached Stover to write a book in the series.

"I took this to be an opportunity to make a little money, Stover said in an interview with, "while raising my profile with Organized Fandom, and eventually (after some initial reluctance was beaten out of me by Bob Salvatore and Mike Stackpole) surrendered to the Dark Side - uh, wait, that should read: 'started writing for the Franchise.'"

Stover's first Star Wars novel, Traitor, was released in July 2002.
